Creative Living : Two napkin folding ideas

Want to add a little extra to your Christmas table – these two napkin folding ideas could be just the thing. Setting a Christmas table is my favourite job of the whole season. I spend far too much time thinking about how I will lay my table each year. This Christmas it’s all about the bow napkin.

I was kindly gifted these gorgeous napkins from The Earthy Home. They’re the perfect subject to demonstrate some simple napkin folding ideas. I love to mix and layer patterns from tablecloth to plate, plate to napkin. The more layers I can add, the more sumptuous the final table will feel. Paying attention to the little details can turn an ordinary table into an extraordinary one. And you can do it too.

The first napkin folding idea is a bow. You can find the full folding tutorial over on my Instagram page @Lottsandlots. It’s really simple and if you already have napkins doesn’t require anything extra. However, to add a little more you could make a sweet floral napkin ring to sit in the centre or use your imagination…Use contrasting ribbons, floral tags, fruit or a sprig of fresh foliage in the centre of the bow, for an additional layer.

For the second napkin folding idea. The napkin was laid out flat and gathered in the centre.

Once again it was pushed through the floral napkin ring to hold in place. A knot, piece of ribbon or humble twine would also work nicely to secure. These napkin rings were made using small willow branches too small for wreath bases. They are so sweet and could just as easily be saved and used all year round.
