I’m absolutely thrilled to be working with Vinny and Charles once again this summer. They kindly gifted me their signature Ember Ring, set with the most beautiful emerald stone. I happily captured it on the hottest day of the year, nestled in amongst my flowers.
What I love about Vinny and Charles’ pieces, is the ability to customise. Jewellery, as I’ve written before, is such a personal purchase. Whether you are buying for yourself or choosing for someone. The ease that Melody and Chris allow for adaptation and individuality is really important. There were SO many combinations I could have gone for with this Ember Leaf ring. I did ask my children their preference but knew as soon as I saw the emerald my choice was made. What I find even more fascinating is the fact the emerald is lab grown. As a grower and maker, growing gem stones blows my mind!
Before accepting a gifted collaboration, I really consider if its ‘right’. What draws me to Vinny and Charles is their core is rooted in nature, just like mine. Nature has the ability to connect us all in some way. Next door or down under. Nature brings us together with a shared love of the Earth. That shines through with this ring and I hope I’ve managed to capture my love with my photography.
To showcase the brilliant green of the emerald, I set about styling it with my latest crop of sweet peas. They haven’t had the focus they deserve this year. A staggered crop – one sown in Autumn and another early spring have given me their heavenly scented flowers for months. I kept my selection tight this year. A few soft colours and a bright pink to keep things fun! Sweet peas were my gateway flower into cut flower growing. The first whiff of scent had me hooked.
I’ve come along way since my first crop flowered years ago. This year I have really pushed myself and the garden with what I can create. Perhaps there was a little divine timing to receiving this ring. It arrived in the midst of my busiest wedding year. As I wear it and it becomes woven into my story. It will serve as a beautiful reminder of what my hands can do and I hope will inspire you to use your hands to make life beautiful.
