Creative Living : Creating Homespun Celebrations (with a Lotts and Lots Amazon Shop)

There seems to be a resurgence in nostalgic homespun celebrations going on. Reflecting the human need for heart and soul felt connection to others and not just an aesthetic based experience.

I’ve been creating celebrations for my loved ones for years. I have always loved setting the table and making people feel loved, safe and cared for. One of the reasons my workshops are so special is I take the hosting aspect very seriously.

Putting on a tablecloth, adding flowers and maybe lighting a few candles isn’t just fluffy activity. It says I care about this moment and our time together. I, along with my husband have learnt along the way that hosting isn’t about serving the perfect dish. It’s about creating an atmosphere where people can relax. Our house is ‘safe to spill’ nothing is too good and we’re never worried about someone knocking over a glass of red.

Through my blog I have been fortunate to have been sent a wonderful selection of table and partyware from Talking Tables over the years. Each selection is treasured and woven into our family history.

It’s the repetition (in a good way) of using and preserving favourite party items that stick in our memories, creating that longed for feeling of nostalgia. With every special dish and bowl that gets set on the table a new moment is made. My Granny would always put a lace tablecloth on the table, signalling a celebration. Just thinking about it takes me back, I can remember every detail from the smell of cupboard where her ‘special’ glasses were kept to the taste of lemon drizzle cake she would always buy. These feelings weren’t created because she was following a trend, they were created because she made us feel loved.

There is so much to write about this subject. Making the everyday beautiful is at the heart of all I do. You can read about Reusable Party Decorations and Quick Ways to get Party Ready by clicking on the links.

Through teaching I have learnt that some us need permission to set the table or just don’t know where to start…Over the years I have shared as much as I can to encourage readers to set the table and create their own magic moments. My blog has always served a journal of sorts, a place where ideas can be recorded and kept. They are however not the most organised, there was a phase of giving posts random names which I have obviously forgotten.

As part of my social media spring clean, I have been looking at how I can revisit some of my past posts and make content easier for readers.

After many years of deliberating, there is now a Lotts and Lots Amazon storefront. The aim is to make celebrating and making memories easier to curate.

Using past work with Talking Tables, there are now shoppable stories on the page as well as product lists for the items I buy and use regularly. These lists can be used in a few ways as Amazon can bring up many feelings. Simply use them for a visual reference and buy the products else where. Or if you do feel inspired, purchase through my page and I’ll receive a tiny amount which I can put back into my website. Hopefully making it easier to navigate.

Either way the power to make memories and the everyday beautiful is in your hands. I hope this helps you on your path of creation!
