August is here and with it comes the first seeds to harvest. I’d kept these strawflowers (Helichrysum) in the beds over winter and they have been flowering and going to seed quicker than ever in this hot hot summer.
I feel that collecting the first seeds of the year is a bit of a moment and like to mark the occasion. I’ve been working with Papermash over the last year or so in a really relaxed way (thankfully!), Lynne sends me her beautiful paper products and I get creative when I can. I was really inspired to make these pretty seed envelopes as I want to share these seeds with my friend and her mum and thought ‘hey, let’s make them beautiful!’ .
I’d picked up some plain envelopes on my travels with a fancy string fastening. I used the Floral Nature Washi Tape set which I simply tore into strips and layered across the envelopes. I wrote the name of the seeds on the front, I always use pencil as I think it looks softer and then added the seeds. Easy peasy!
From this post I’ve completely fallen back in love with washi tape – there are some really great sets on the Papermash website. I’m off on my holidays soon, i’ll be slipping these into my craft kit so I can get creative and keep track of all the bits I collect on the way!
