This is something to be proud of, myself and my garden have been featured in the winter 2026 edition of In Her Garden magazine.
I’d heard of the magazine but being an American an publication I’d never been able to get my hands on a copy until now. Goodness, it’s so beautiful and inspiring. Not just because I’m in it! It’s full of gardens loved and tended too, around the world. I believe fully in the connection our gardens give us not just to nature but each other. Having a ‘look’ around a growing space feels personal invitation into another persons world. Just like mine, you can see the love and care each person has put into their space. It’s wonderful and such an honour to be part of the issue.
I was asked to submit words and images for the theme of ’embracing creativity in a winter garden’. Until I gathered the images and words together. It didn’t realise how much of this I do.
Winter was never a season I thrived in but growing and storing flowers for use during the dark months has been a remedy. As has creating a garden with something flowering all year round. Of course I have to work harder to find flowers to work with during winter, when I do the results hit a little deeper.
The article featured a mix of projects I’ve created over the years. Some of them such personal projects, I often felt too niche to share. Projects like my beloved stitched ribbons have created the most interest and gained me followers from all over the U.S. I find this immensely fascinating!
It also teaches me to be braver and not share standard stuff. I need to go on the tangents that make me and my ideas unique. Ironically, I haven’t done much winter gardening this year. Stuff is meant to be happening at home meaning I’ve packed a lot of my vases and things away for now. What the article has given me is a pause to look back at what I’ve done. There is so much more I’d love to do, write a book ? Of course! Grow more, share more, create more. I want to DO IT ALL!
Mostly, it’s made me believe in myself. I’m self taught in both gardening and photography seeing how far I’ve come and what I’ve achieved is really important to my development. Not only has it given me strong roots to keep growing upon. It given me permission to keep talking and sharing to encourage others to do the same. As I always say, If I can do it, so can you.
The Winter Edition of In Her Garden Magazine is available via the Stampington Website including a downloadable version. There are also lots of other beautiful titles to explore.
