Floral Feasts : Best Chocolate Cake Recipe (with flowers)

8th October 2024

Something delicious today. One of my most searched for terms is Chocolate Cake with Flowers. Having just left birthday season I have baked my fair share of chocolate cakes recently. Of course all of them have been decorated with flowers in some way, despite requests from my children to stop! The truth is can’t, a few edible petals or leaves makes a wonky home bake extra special.

I am no mega baker but I do rely on three cake recipes to get me by…I use this Easy Chocolate Fudge Cake if I want a cake to feel like desert. There is no other Victoria Sponge than Mary Berry’s – I never make the jam I  buy a good quality one. The ingredients to make Summer Holiday Sprinkle Cake are always on standby for something speedy. Of course there is the occasional urge to bake something new. A pile of recipes pulled from The Simple Things sits by my bed, eagerly waiting. However, these three can satisfy a family gathering with a full age spectrum from three to eighty.

To decorate I always rely on a few freshly picked blooms and a dusting of icing sugar. My oven is a little wonky so they delightfully fill in any gaps. During the summer I supply a range of edible blooms, including cornflowers, fever few and roses as the season draws in, a few leaves from an olive gives a natural touch. You could of course press and save your summer favourites, which I might actually do this week…
