A Back Garden Wedding, July 2023

I’m absolutely delighted to share this gorgeous back garden wedding with you today.

Julia, the lovely Bride came to me with a gorgeous selection of images in soft colours of greens and whites. She knew exactly what she wanted but also put her trust in me to interpret the brief in my own style. I created large floral baskets to sit next to a floral arch (which another local business created), chair ends finished with my home dyed silk ribbons, a bridal bouquet, jam jars for the tables and two large mantle vases for the inside rooms.

Late July was THE perfect time for Ammi Green Mist which I grew abundantly in my cutting beds and over flow beds at the allotment. I also included soft mauve and pink pastel Scabiosa, Marshmallow and Snap Dragons. Everything was gentle and dreamy with the white Ammi forming fluffy  floral clouds.  In the large baskets I edged the sides with a very delicate wash of mauve flowers, including echinops and artichoke to add a little more interest.

Julia had been following me Instagram (@Lottsandlots) throughout the whole process. I adored forming this connection as I was able to see first hand  what she loved and responded too and then added lots of it to the days flowers. It also gave her the chance to be part of the growing and creating process. A week or two before the wedding we met and walked the garden, I pulled a selection of flowers together and she was able to let me know what she liked. When it came to assembling my usual nerves vanished as I had such a clear feeling of what I was going to create.

I prepped everything at home and ‘carefully’ drove the five minute journey to the garden. Good job it was a Sunday morning and no-one was around because I went about 5 miles per hour! I was able to unload and get everything in situ really quickly with the exception of the chair ends which I tied when I got there. I take a lot of care over my bows.

I loved working on this wedding from planning and growing to arranging and styling, it makes me so happy and I think that comes across in the flowers. I’m going to leave you with some feedback from Julia before you dive into the photos.

“We had the best day, Charlotte and your flowers made it so very beautiful…

…Everyone was blown away by the gorgeous flowers, and all the ladies were so happy to take some home with them.

Thank you again, you’re amazing and have been such fun to work with.”

If you’d like your wedding flowers grown locally in Leigh-on-Sea please get in touch. I have a dedicated wedding page with more information. I can’t wait to hear from you. Lotts xx
