British Grown Flowers : January Bouquet 2026

There were slim pickings for January’s British Grown Bouquet project. Very slim. I had been purging the garden of anything blooming to fill my weekly orders for Food, Leigh-on-Sea. By the time it came to rustling up a monthly bouquet. All that was left were some tendrils of ivy, rosehips and the very first hellebore.

I debated whether to keep this challenge up for 2026. January was a busier month than planned. It would have been easier to bid it farewell. But, I like a challenge and I like to have a record of what has grown even more so. Therefore, the project will continue into 2026 with a few additions…

The garden was surprisingly plentiful early in the month. Olive, flowering Rosemary and Mimosa all took centre stage. An earthy mix of plants to ease us into the year.

I cut too much and decided to leave the rest to replenish outside. The weather turned, as expected, cold wet days put pause to any new flowers. There are however, glimpses of a new season, bulbs of all types are pushing their way skywards and dashes of pink peony shoots emerging.

It’s all there but not, like me it needs a few more weeks/months to get ready to bloom. For now, I’ll enjoy this tiny bouquet. A little warm up for the year, I forgot how good it felt to get my hands on some fresh flowers. You can revisit January 2025’s bouquet here.
